Pervasive developmental disorders (PDD) are a group of five disorders characterized by delays in the development of multiple basic functions including socialization and communication. The pervasive developmental disorders are autism, childhood disintegrative disorder, Rett syndrome and pervasive developmental disorder not otherwise specified.
