The parent-effects model proposes that genes are the basis of a child’s temperament, which may elicit certain behaviours in a parent, and then in turn influence the child’s behaviour. An example of this can be a child’s temperament causing aggressive behaviour in a parent, which can then cause antisocial behaviour in the child.
