Nonverbal tests are used to measure intelligence and specific abilities, and are based on the assumption that the culture and socialization of an individual might give a skewed description of the person’s actual level of abilities. Therefore, nonverbal tests attempt to eliminate verbal aspects and focus on skills and abilities which are thought to be independent from what was learned in school or in a given culture.
