Humanistic psychology is an approach based on the teachings of Carl Rogers, Abraham Maslow, Gordon Allport and others. Humanistic psychology regards humans as developing beings, whose final objective is self-actualization and growth. Humanistic psychology was a ‘third force’ which came into existence as a reaction to psychoanalysis and behaviorism. Representatives of this school believed in the innate goodness of humans, and regarded mental and social problems as deviations from natural tendencies.
