Psychologists are expected to conduct valid and reliable, as well as meaningful experiments, while at the same time protecting the well-being and rights of participants. Famous experiments, such as the Stanford Prison Experiment or Stanley Milgram’s famous experiment on obedience to authority would not be allowed today, due to the risks they presented to the participants.
