Crystallized and fluid intelligence are terms coined by Raymond Catell in 1971. Both are factors of general intelligence, and are measured by sections of IQ tests.

Crystalized intelligence refers to the knowledge and skills an individual has accumulated during the course of their lifetime. Fluid intelligence refers to the ability to analyze information and understand relationships between stimuli, independent of previous experience.
