Case studies are studies of particular individual cases. They are in many ways useful, but also have their drawbacks. Case studies can give researchers the opportunity to study specific types of brain injury which cannot be induced deliberately due to moral considerations. Case studies can also be useful in areas where little research has been done. An issue with this method can be lack of representativeness, as well as not providing a basis for causal statements.
